The sheet comes from a now-disbound album of landscape studies by Fra Bartolomeo assembled by an eighteenth-century collector. Fra Bartolomeo likely produced these drawings outdoors during his travels in and around Florence, often to Dominican establishments (he was a member of the Dominican Order).
